1. Thomas Thornton Dobyns was born on 21 Mar 1796 in Richmond Co VA. He died on 24 Apr 1858 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL. He was named for his maternal grandfather. Thomas married Sarah Glover Bristow, daughter of Archibald Bristow and Philadelphia Bourne, on 28 Jan 1823 in Clark Co KY. Sarah was born on 29 Oct 1806 in Clark Co KY and died on 2 Dec 1880 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL. She was adopted by her uncle, John Bristow and his wife, who were childless.

2 John Bristow Dobyns was born on 7 Oct 1823 in Kentucky and died on 9 Nov 1904 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL. He appeared in the 1850 census of Montgomery Co KY as John B Dobbyns, age 27, merchant. He married Mary Jane Holmes on 15 Apr 1868 in Illinois. Mary was born on 29 Mar 1842 in Orleans, IL and died on 27 Sep 1927 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL.

3 Thomas Perrine Dobyns was born on 27 Nov 1825 in Kentucky and died on 1 Dec 1827 in Kentucky.

4 Thomas Perrine Dobyns was born on 27 Dec 1827 in Kentucky, died on 9 Mar 1899 in Yates Center, Woodson Co KS and was buried in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL. He was named for his elder brother who had just died. He appeared in the 1850 census of Montgomery Co KY as Thomas P. Dobbyns, age 32, clerk. He married Julia Franklin McCann on 15 Feb 1849 in Illinois. Julia was born on 23 Jan 1833 in Fayette Co KY and died in Apr 1890 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL.

5 Sarah Jane Dobyns was born on 11 Dec 1829 in Kentucky. Note that sister Sallie Bristow was ten years younger. SArah Janet may have died by 1839 or married by 1850.

6 Daniel Lawson Dobyns was born on 7 Jan 1832 Kentucky. He was missing in the 1850 census.

7 Samuel Thornton Dobyns was born on 3 Jun 1834 in Mt. Ida KY. He died on 28 Oct 1900 in Covington, Kenton Co, KY. He was counted in the 1850 and 1860 census in Montgomery Co KY. His obituary in the 29 Oct 1900 Kentucky Post stated that he died at home, leaving a widow and three daughters. Samuel married Sarah Greene, daughter of Samuel Greene, about 1856. Sarah was born about 1834 in Kentucky and died on 11 Aug 1910 in Covington, Kenton Co KY.

8 Thornton Dobyns was born on 22 Nov 1837 and died in 1838.

9 Sallie Bristow Dobyns was born on 23 Nov 1839 in Kentucky and died on 12 Nov 1912 in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co TN. She appeared in the 1850 census of Montgomery Co KY as Sally J Dobbyns, age 11, born in Kentucky. Sallie married William R. Buford about 1855. William was born on 3 Apr 1842 and died on 17 May 1925 in Chattanooga, Hamilton Co TN.

10 Francis Thornton Dobyns was born about 1842. He was missing in the 1850 census.

11 Mary Adams Dobyns was born on 21 Feb 1844 in Mt. Ida KY and died on 3 Apr 1902 in Jacksonville, Morgan Co IL. She appeared in the 1850 census of Montgomery Co KY as Mary A. Dobbyns, age 6, born in Kentucky. She married George Washington Craig about 1867. George was born on 1 Feb 1846 and died on 25 Jan 1924.

12 Virginia Parrish Dobyns was born about 1846 in Kentucky. She was named for her mother's younger sister who had married Edmund Hockaday Parrish and died about 1848. Virginia was missing in the 1850 census.

13 Julia Franklin Dobyns was born in 1849 and died in 1850. She appeared in the 1850 Census of Montgomery Co KY as Julia F Dobbyns, age 1, born in Kentucky.
